07.06.2011, Russia | History Velikoretsky procession lasts from the beginning of the XV century. Every year in early summer, tens of thousands of pilgrims from all over the country gather in the Kirov region and go in procession, carrying the icon of St. Nicholas. The current route of the procession passes through the villages along the river Great - it's 150 kilometers of hiking in the transition period from 3 to 8 June. The faithful carry the icons, stopping prayers and vodosvyatiya. Last year, the procession was attended by Velikoretsky 25 thousand people.
